Master’s programme Continental Water Sustainability (CWS)
a new graduate-level programme dedicated to understanding and addressing the challenges of sustainable management of continental socio-hydrosystems (rivers, lakes, wetlands, etc.).
Fully taught in English, this two-year programme leads to the award of a double degree, jointly delivered by the University of Strasbourg (co-accredited with ENGEES) and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The programme is embedded in the cross-border academic environment of the EUCOR – The European Campus network, fostering scientific and institutional cooperation in the Upper Rhine region.
The CWS Master’s programme is distinguished by several key features:
- genuine transdisciplinarity, combining natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences, with direct integration of stakeholders and end users;
- problem- and project-oriented learning from the very beginning of the curriculum;
- a Franco-German double degree;
- collaboration with UNESCO's Youth Programme in Ecohydrology (within the framework of the International Hydrological Programme) and taking place under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair, ensuring strong international recognition;
- a holistic approach inspired by nexialism, aimed at training professionals capable of articulating knowledge from different disciplines to address complex water management challenges.
