Cap-Net Network Attachment

Monitoring and Evaluation

Background

Cap-Net is a UNDP programme and international capacity building network for sustainable water management housed at the Water Research Commission (WRC) in Pretoria, South Africa. The programme was established to address the large emerging demand for capacity building in sustainable water management and is supporting the development of a global network of capacity building institutions and individuals. These consist of several regional and national networks that have arisen spontaneously to address the capacity building problems in the water sector. The network provides a unique opportunity to support local ownership of the capacity building process and enables a critical mass of local skills to be built to address the multidisciplinary problem of integrated water resources management.

This is an invitation to capacity building networks to solicit applications for a short term Network Attachments with the Cap-Net secretariat. The submissions should be accompanied by a short introduction from a network manager on the proposed learning agenda of the candidate and what the Network Attachment (NA) is expected to contribute to the network upon return. Because the NA will devote a significant proportion of their time supporting their own network, the network manager should assign them with specific tasks that would benefit from the Network Attachment’s location within the Cap-Net secretariat. The NA will submit a work plan to carry out these tasks as part of the application process. The position is for a young professional who is affiliated to a Cap-Net partner regional or national network.

The NA will work together with the Cap-Net secretariat in tracking the outputs and outcomes of capacity building and knowledge management activities of the global network

The NA shall work under the supervision of an experienced professional and will be part of a small team where they will assume responsibility for agreed elements of the work programme
